The Art Gallery at the University of West Florida presents “A History of Photography: Storytellers, Tricksters, and Fortune Tellers" exhibition in the The Art Gallery at the Center for Fine and Performing Arts (Building 82) from Thursday, January 8, through Thursday, February 5, with a closing reception on Thursday, February 5, from 5 to 7 p.m.
Exploring the history of photography as curated by UWF Art and Design Professor Jim Jipson, the exhibition incorporates the work of students and faculty to transform TAG into an educational space that combines the unique worlds of history and photography.
Achieved through the exhibition design work of both students and faculty, the exhibition serves as an extension of the classroom. “Storytellers, Tricksters, and Fortune Tellers” challenges viewers to approach the exhibition from multiple perspectives, documenting both the historical context and artistic beauty of photography.
An installment of the ongoing EVOLVE Exhibition Series, the collaboration includes Professor Jipson and his History of Photography classes, who worked alongside TAG Team and TAG X interns under the mentorship of UWF Art and Design Instructor John Dougherty, UWF Historic Trust Exhibition Designer Richard Rodriguez, and The Art Gallery at UWF Director Stasha Willis

For one night only, our original, legendary storyteller returns, spinning cosmic yarns you can't afford to miss!
6 P.M. True Crime Special Feature (Ages 21 and up)Our galaxy can be very dark, but have you ever wondered how dark? The True Crime planetarium will answer that question, and many more. While touring through the solar system, we'll discuss some of the most infamous crimes associated with outer space. Learn about the curious deaths of ancient astronomers such as Socrates and Hypatia of Alexandria, the cult that worshipped the 1997 Hale-Bopp comet, and numerous stories of astronauts behaving badly. Adultery, witchcraft, and moon rock robbery are only the beginning when you join us for a mysterious and murderous night under the stars.
7 P.M. Sordid Secrets of the Stars Zodiac Edition (Ages 21 and up)What's your sign? Enter our planetarium for a deep dive into the 12 signs of the zodiac. In this adults only show, we’ll talk about what your individual zodiac sign says about your personality, both in and out of the bedroom. We’ll also talk about which signs you're most compatible with, which signs to avoid, and the bizarre (and sometimes sultry) Greek myths that inspired the zodiac symbols.
