Join Bike Pensacola for a community forum on creating a safer and better community for walking and bicycling. Our featured presenter is bicycle-pedestrian advocate and transportation engineer Billy Hattaway, who has worked for over 40 years to create more wakable-bikeable communities across Florida. Hattaway formerly served as secretary of Florida Department of Transportation District 1, and as transportation director for the City of Orlando. He is now a Senior Advisor with England-Thims & Miller.
The event also includes a panel discussion among several Pensacola bicycle advocates who are working to improve conditions on local roadways. Refreshments will be served.

Join us for a journey into the deep blue waters of the Gulf with Dr. Tracey Sutton, professor of marine and environmental sciences at the Guy Harvey Oceanographic Research Center of Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Sutton will discuss the extraordinary biodiversity of the deep Gulf water column, from the sunlit surface to the pitch-black “midnight zone.” Research over the last 15 years has uncovered numerous new life forms but has also detected a decrease in pelagic life across multiple levels, from small deep-sea “baitfish” to large oceanic predators.
Dr. Sutton will discuss the deep Gulf in the context of a highly interconnected ecosystem that ranges from Florida to Texas. Fishermen who seek pelagic fish like tuna and billfish in the Gulf will be particularly interested in Dr. Sutton’s work, which connects with the health of populations of offshore recreational fish.

Join us every 3rd Saturday of the month from 9:30-10:30 a.m. for a one-of-a-kind experience in our brand-new Creature Café.
Enjoy fresh coffee and pastries while getting up close with some of the Emerald Coast Science Center’s incredible Animal Ambassadors. Each month features a different lineup of animals, plus the stories behind the scientists they’re named after. Guests can learn, interact, and even handle some of our friendly creatures (if they choose!). Ticket price also includes admission to the center after the event, so stay and play.
