  • On Saturday, February 14th, UWF will host the 1st Annual UWF Indoor Invitational, featuring more than 45 performing groups from 3 states. Sanctioned by the Gulf Coast Guard and Percussion Circuit (GCGPC), more than 500 performers will take part throughout the full 9 hours of competition.
  • The University of West Florida Dr. Grier Williams School of Music will present the Kamerman Piano Series at UWF featuring guest performer Albert Cano Smit. The performance will be held on Sunday, Feb. 22, at 3 p.m. in the Rolfs Music Hall at the Center for Fine and Performing Arts on the UWF Pensacola campus.

    Praised as a pianist with poetic grace and established as an “artist to watch” (Montreal Gazette), Spanish/Dutch pianist Albert Cano Smit has gained international recognition as an orchestral, recital and chamber music performer. Noted for his captivating performances, storytelling quality and nuanced musicality, Smit was the First Prize winner of the 2019 Young Concert Artists Susan Wadsworth International Auditions. He has appeared as a soloist with the Seattle Symphony, Las Vegas Philharmonic, San Diego Symphony, Montréal Symphony, Colorado Music Festival Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of the Triangle, Orchestra of St Luke’s, Barcelona Symphony, Catalonia National Orchestra and Manchester Camerata. Serving as an advocate for new music, Smit has premiered various solo works on his recital programs, commissioned by Stephen Hough, Miquel Oliu and Katherine Balch. Leaving his home in Geneva at age 9, Smit joined the Escolania de Montserrat choir school, where his daily immersion in music greatly influenced him. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Piano Performance from the Colburn School and an artist diploma and master's degree from the Juilliard School, where he studied with Robert McDonald.
  • Ballet Pensacola presents A Night of Four Seasons, a work inspired by Vivaldi's The Four Seasons in a new work by Veronica Ramirez and accompanied by live musicians. Audiences can attend the performance only or a VIP experience that includes champagne and hors d'oeuvres, premium seating, and a meet-and-greet with the choreographers and dancers post performance.   • The UWF Dr. Grier Williams School of Music presents the UWF Chamber Music Series on Wednesday, April 1st, at Noon. The concert will be held at Old Christ Church in historic downtown Pensacola.

    Under the direction of Dr. Hedi Salanki, the Chamber Music ensemble continues to celebrate its 20th season. For the final concert of the semester, members of the UWF Chamber Music Class will perform a broad repertoire featuring a variety of pieces, including the music of Bach, Chopin, Mendelssohn, Liszt, Dvořak, Schubert, Kapustin and others.

    Music lovers of all ages, including school groups and senior citizens, are invited.

Lloyd St. The event showcases sustainable living through a fun day of environmental education, art, live music, local food, green products and hands-on activities.

    Some of the event highlights include a repair cafe popup, native plants, yoga sessions and planet-friendly cuisine. There’s also a lineup of local singer-songwriters and acoustic bands that will keep the celebration going all day long. We encourage folks to walk, bike and carpool down to the event.
