  • On Sat. Dec. 4 Bike Pensacola hosts a one-day, six-hour demonstration of the proposed Gonzalez Street Shareway, a complete street shared among all users but with features to particularly encourage cyclists and pedestrians. For the event, temporary traffic calming and beautification features will be installed, and there will be music, activities and fun along the route at parks, businesses and homes.

    Activities include:
    - Pensacola Arts Market and Waterboyz Skate demo at Cordova Square (12th and Gonzalez)
    - Winter Art Market at First City Arts Center (Guillemard and Gonzalez)
    - Food truck, Shareway educational displays and self guided North Hill walking tours at AL Square (Reus and Gonzalez)
    - Scavenger hunt that takes cyclists all along the corridor in search of clues.

Bike Pensacola identified the Gonzalez St. corridor as one of the only ones that is contiguous across Pensacola, due to the interruption of the Interstate 110 that was pushed through the heart of the city in the early 1970s and has divided neighborhoods. The project is an example of tactical urbanism, in which street improvements and traffic calming measures are temporarily installed to test them out and build public support for permanent changes. The Gonzalez Shareway Day is recipient of a 2021 AARP Community Challenge Grant, one of eight grantees selected in Florida.

More about Nancy: Nancy LaNasa has been leading yoga classes since 1986, beginning her practice in New York City. She moved to North Hill in 1996 and started-out teaching classes in her dining room.

  • Grease is the word! Join Stage Crafters for the final production of its 49th season - “Grease!” Here is Rydell High's senior class of 1959: duck-tailed, hot-rodding "Burger Palace Boys" and their gum-snapping, hip-shaking "Pink Ladies" in bobby socks and pedal pushers, evoking the look and sound of the 1950s in this rollicking musical. Head "greaser" Danny Zuko and new (good) girl Sandy Dumbrowski try to relive the high romance of their "Summer Nights" as the rest of the gang sings and dances its way through such songs as "Greased Lightnin'," "Raining on Prom Night" and "You’re the One that I Want," recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation. An eight-year run on Broadway and two subsequent revivals, along with innumerable school and community productions, place Grease among the world's most popular musicals. Performances are Nov. 5-7 and 12-14, 2021. Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday matinees are at 2 p.m. Doors open 30 minutes prior to each show. Tickets are available online at www.stagecraftersfwb.com or at the door. “Grease” is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., a Concord Theatricals Company. www.concordtheatricals.com
