Askew Lecture Series: The Future of American Power Projection
The UWF Reubin O'D. Askew Department of Government hosts Dr. Carla Martinez Machain, Professor of Political Science at Kansas State University, for a discussion of American power projection. Professor Martinez Machain and Assistant Professor Brian Crisher will explore the soft and hard power aspects of American power projection capabilities and implications for the future. Please join us Thursday, March 24, 2022, at The Museum of Commerce located at 201 Zaragoza Street in downtown Pensacola. A reception will start at 5:30pm, with the lecture beginning at 6:00pm.
Chamber Music Recital
The University of West Florida and the Dr. Grier Williams School of Music will present the UWF Chamber Music class in concert on Wednesday, October 6 at Noon. The concert will be held at Old Christ Church in Historic Downtown Pensacola.
The UWF Chamber Music Series at Old Christ Church is celebrating its 15th season. Under the direction of Dr. Hedi Salanki, the UWF Chamber Music Class prepared an exciting program to open the season. They will perform works of Purcell, Vivaldi, Bach, Albinoni, Gluck, Schubert, Schumann, Beethoven and others. The concert will feature a wide variety of instruments, such as the harpsichord, piano, violin, viola, cello, flute, trumpet and trombone. Vocalists will perform opera arias, duets and popular songs.
This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required for this event. Face coverings are not required, however the University, as well as the CDC, highly recommends the use of face coverings indoors. This will allow us to keep our on-campus and off campus communities safe. For more information, call the Williams School of Music office at 850.474.2147.

Are you smarter than a 5th grader? Test your wits at Trivia Night! Teams (maximum of 6 people per team) are invited to come nerd out with us and decide once and for all who's the brains of the group.
The winning team will receive one $25 gift certificate to the center, good for admission, workshops, gift shop purchases, planetarium events, and more. Have a drink, come up with a ridiculous team name (E = MC Hammer, anyone?), and start the weekend off right with a fun trivia challenge!

As part of Earth Ethics monthly Environmental Education Series we welcome guest speakers Dara Hartigan, Save Our Soundside and Elizabeth Majors, Master Naturalist, who will discuss the environmental issues that have been taking place in Santa Rosa County, FL.
In addition, they will discuss what actions have taken place with the land development code (LDC), the development explosion, and what we can do to help moving forward to ensure that development occurs in a sustainable manner. An Evening in Israel
The Global Corner will celebrate this year’s Passport Program with a fundraiser on Thursday, January 13, 2022 from 6:00-7:30pm at The Pensacola Opera Center, at 75 S Tarragona St, Pensacola, FL 32502. Come enjoy “An Evening in Israel” where we will feature authentic Israeli food and signature Israeli wine and a take a peek at this year’s in-school curriculum. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Global Corner’s educational in-school Passport Program in area elementary schools. This year, we are showcasing the country and culture of Israel.
Old Christ Church Chamber Music Concert
The University of West Florida Dr. Grier Williams School of Music will present the UWF Chamber Music class in concert on Wednesday, April 6 at noon. The concert will be held at Old Christ Church in historic downtown Pensacola.

Finding Your True Self Through The Enneagram
Do you desire to know yourself better and learn how to improve your relationship with God and others? If so, this workshop is for you!
This workshop is hosted by Center for Sacred Space, a local nonprofit organization. It's scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 22 from 6:00pm through 7:30pm at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, located at 75 Fairpoint Dr., Gulf Breeze, FL and will be led by Pam Avery, Associate Pastor and Certified Enneagram Coach. The Pensacola Archaeological Society Lecture Series is a free online series that features a short presentation by an archaeologist via Zoom and an opportunity for participants to ask questions at the end of the presentation (duration is about one hour and a half total). UWF Gulf Coast Culture Series Presents True South: A Conversation with John T. Edge
The University of West Florida College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities is excited to introduce the Gulf Coast Culture Series, an evolution of our longstanding Experience UWF Downtown Lecture Series. This new series broadens our focus beyond public lectures, becoming an immersive celebration of the rich and diverse culture of the Gulf Coast Region that aims to deepen our community’s connection to its unique history and culture.
On Tuesday, April 15, 2025, please join the College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities for the inaugural Gulf Coast Culture Series event, True South: A Conversation with John T. Edge, at the Museum of Commerce in downtown Pensacola.
Join us for an engaging talk with John T Edge, host of TrueSouth on SEC Network, ESPN, and Hulu; columnist for Garden & Gun magazine, founding director of the Southern Foodways Alliance; author of the memoir House of Smoke (September 2025); and author of the critically acclaimed The Potlikker Papers. John will discuss how the food and media can tell the stories of our region’s distinct culture and identity. It’s the perfect start to a series that’s all about celebrating what makes this region such an extraordinary place to call home.
