  • JULY 11, 2022 – PENSACOLA, FLA. – Keep Pensacola Beautiful will be hosting a beach cleanup in conjunction with the popular Blue Angel Air Show at Pensacola Beach. Just this year, KPB with the support of volunteers has picked up over 8,000 lbs. of litter through our various cleanups across Escambia County.

"We want to help keep our beaches looking beautiful and we encourage beach goers to make sure that they leave only their footprints," says Sigrid Rehrig, Executive Director of Keep Pensacola Beautiful. "However, we know that litter inevitably gets left behind which is why we are calling on our community to come out to volunteer to help clean up after all the fun!"

Any weather and event updates can be found on the Post-Blues Sunset Beach Cleanup Facebook Event under Keep Pensacola Beautiful on Facebook.

For more information, please visit the Keep Pensacola Beautiful website, email
volunteer@keeppensacolabeautiful.org, or call the office at 850-438-1178.

The COSTUME BOWL is an annual cosplay charity event to support Manna Food Pantries and Gulf Coast Kid's House. Although we had to take a brief hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, we came back in 2021 with our most successful year yet! Now we're ready to continue our efforts to help with ALL proceeds going to Manna and GCKH.

Costumes are part of the fun but are *not required!* Our primary goal has always been to support our two great charities! Costumes DO NOT have to be sci-fi or fantasy-related, but they DO need to be family-friendly!

Bowlers can organize a team of up to 6 bowlers for $75, or register as an individual for only $15! Price includes 3 games & bowling shoes.
  • This free one week STEM summer camp for Middle School Girls lets them learn about what engineers do through hands-on projects. A main goal is to show that math and science can be fun when applied to projects and real problems. This camp is affiliated with the National Academy of Engineering’s Engineer Girl Ambassador program.
  • Join us for a late afternoon summer stroll through downtown Pensacola as we explore the old and new ways that cities can adapt to the higher temperatures and heavier rainfall of our changing climate. Along the way we’ll look at the many features of buildings, streets, and parks that can help keep cities and their inhabitants cooler and more comfortable while using less energy.

Your tour guide is Christian Wagley of the nonprofit group Healthy Gulf. Christian spends much of his time studying the traditional ways that communities were designed and built in harmony with local climate. We’ll walk where it’s hot and where it’s not, compare temperatures in different areas of the City, and see firsthand how the design of cities shapes our energy use and comfort.

Participants are encouraged to dress for the heat, with light colored clothing, natural fibers like linen, hats and parasols. In honor of one of the most traditional ways of cooling-off, we’ll even stop for a free cold beverage to chill us down.

Forecasts from the National Climate Assessment predict hotter summers and more rainfall in the southern U.S. Pensacola and other cities will need to adapt to the changing conditions in order to protect their economies, public health, and quality-of-life.

The Walking Tour concludes at 5:30 pm. The Tour begins at Martin Luther King Plaza located in the center of Palafox St—one and a half blocks north of Garden St.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, call 850-687-9968 or email christian@healthygulf.org
  • Meet the next mayor of Pensacola at a mayoral candidates’ forum hosted by Bike Pensacola. Candidates Jewell Cannada-Wynn, Sherri Myers, D.C. Reeves and Steve Sharp are all committed to attend.

We’ll start by allowing each candidate to provide general information about their candidacy. After that, all questions will focus on candidates’ views about making Pensacola safer and more pleasant for walking and bicycling, including topics such as bike lanes, parking, urban redevelopment, sidewalks, traffic calming and more.

With increasing interest in making Pensacola more walkable and bikeable, this is an opportune time to hear our next mayor describe how to make our streets safer and better for all users. For much more information about the forum please visit Bike Pensacola on Facebook or call 850-687-9968 or bike@pensacolacan.org
