  • Join us for a free social paddle to explore the marshes and oyster reefs along the downtown Pensacola waterfront. Paddleboards, kayaks—all paddlecraft are welcome.

    We’ll launch at Bartram Park and paddle east around the Project Greenshores area, a habitat creation site that is attracting fish and birds to the area. Environmental education will be provided along the way by Healthy Gulf Florida-Alabama Coastal Organizer Christian Wagley. It's a great chance to learn more about seagrass, oysters, clean water and how to help protect local waterways.

    Participants must provide their own paddle craft. Assistance will be available for those who need help carrying their craft from the parking lot to the launch area.

    Join us for an Adult CPR, AED, & First Aid Training presented by Heartbeat Safety on Thursday, February 5, from 9 AM - 1 PM in downtown Pensacola, FL.

    Participants in American Red Cross Adult CPR/First Aid/AED Training courses gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities to recognize and respond to emergency situations until EMS arrives.

    Students learn proficient CPR, how to effectively utilize an AED, and how to best respond to the onset of sudden illnesses - Diabetic Attack, Stroke, Poisoning, Allergic Reaction, and other first aid emergencies.

    The American Red Cross issues certificates for students who successfully complete this course, valid for 2 years from the date of the class.

  • The UWF College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities invites you to join us on Thursday, November 13, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a public reception at 5:30 p.m. at the Museum of Commerce in downtown Pensacola for the third installment of this year’s Gulf Coast Culture Series: Pensacola Noir, Murder, She Investigates.

    Dr. Allysha Winburn, a biological anthropologist specializing in forensic and bioarchaeological research, and Dr. Cate Bird, missing persons and forensic manager for the International Committee of the Red Cross (United States and Canada), will examine the lasting cultural impact of the television series “Murder, She Wrote.”

    The discussion will explore how the show shaped public fascination with forensic evidence and influenced popular understandings of crime-solving. Drawing on their own expertise, Winburn and Bird will connect the fictional world of Jessica Fletcher to the realities of forensic anthropology, investigative work, and human rights, revealing how cultural narratives intersect with science and justice.
