We're hosting our Fourth Annual Homeschool Science Fair! Both competitive and non-competitive divisions are available for participation. Students ages 6 and up are invited to participate in the fair; students must be able to present their experiments on their own for our judges. This is an excellent opportunity for all homeschool students looking to explore the various STEM disciplines. Light refreshments provided. Join us for a journey into the deep blue waters of the Gulf with Dr. Tracey Sutton, professor of marine and environmental sciences at the Guy Harvey Oceanographic Research Center of Nova Southeastern University. Dr. Sutton will discuss the extraordinary biodiversity of the deep Gulf water column, from the sunlit surface to the pitch-black “midnight zone.” Research over the last 15 years has uncovered numerous new life forms but has also detected a decrease in pelagic life across multiple levels, from small deep-sea “baitfish” to large oceanic predators.

Dr. Sutton will discuss the deep Gulf in the context of a highly interconnected ecosystem that ranges from Florida to Texas. Fishermen who seek pelagic fish like tuna and billfish in the Gulf will be particularly interested in Dr. Sutton’s work, which connects with the health of populations of offshore recreational fish.

The University of West Florida Dr. Grier Williams School of Music presents The UWF Percussion Ensemble in concert. This performance features a diverse program designed to highlight the technical versatility and emotional depth of modern percussion music. Under the direction of Laura Noah, the evening's selections will include Gardens by Ivan Trevino, The REM Cycle by Dustin Schulze, Shimmer by Kevin Shah, Murmurations by Adam Bruce, and Fleet by Cameron Brown, featuring a spotlight performance by soloist Gavin Fisher (BM)on marimba. The evening will culminate in a powerful performance of Shattered Illusions for Percussion Orchestra by Brandon Cummings.

Free mammogram screenings and free or low-cost breast and cervical exams are available to females aged 40-64. Must be a Florida resident with no health insurance. To find out if you qualify, call (850) 316-2706

Join UWF Librarian Travis Souther on Tuesday, April 14, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for a compelling discussion exploring the life and influence of America's first president, George Washington. This event dives into the core principles and character traits that forged his extraordinary leadership and that still inspire others today.

All are welcome to attend at the UWF John C. Pace Library on the Pensacola campus. The event will be held on the second floor multipurpose room.
