Planetarium Special Feature: Slavic Mythology

Planetarium Special Feature: Slavic Mythology

Join us for this special planetarium where we'll explore Eastern European folklore and legends behind the stars. The people of Slavic Europe viewed the stars and planets as magical, living creatures that were born glimmering. They named these celestial bodies after characters from their mythology and folklore.

During this special, family-friendly planetarium show, you’ll learn stories from many Slavic countries, including Poland, Russia, Belarus, Macedonia, Serbia, and the Ukraine. You’ll see a dazzling display of Slavic constellations and learn about the brave czars and clever princesses who outsmarted dangerous monsters and villains. You’ll also learn a few tricks on how to escape from the infamous witch, Baba Yaga.

Our Planetarium is an inflatable dome. Guests sit on cushions on the floor of the planetarium to view the show. Space is limited, and purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended for this reason. On Planetarium Nights, please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled showing. In case of no-shows/late shows: reserved spots will be released at show time to make space for the next party.

Shows begin at 6 and 7 pm and last approximately 45 minutes. Seating is limited and very popular. We encourage purchasing your tickets in advance, as this is a first come, first served event. Please call 850-664-1261, stop by the Science Center, or use our online ticketing option to purchase your tickets.
