Night on the Tracks

Night on the Tracks

Join us for another special night in Old East Hill at the third installation of Night on the Tracks, Saturday, June 3, beginning at 4:30pm with a sidewalk parade. Local venues are inviting folks to come out, mingle, and move throughout the neighborhood for art, music, comedy, skating, and food and drinks. Each of the seven participating venues is offering something unique.

The event kicks off at 813 E. LaRua Street with a participatory community parade that will include giant puppets and a small drum line. Costumes, instruments, and kids are welcome and encouraged. The parade will end at From the Ground Up Community Garden, 501 N Hayne Street, about 0.6 miles, approximately 30 minutes. Upon arrival to the garden around 5pm, PensaPride will present a storytime featuring the book "This Day in June" by Gayle E Pitman. PensaPride also will be tabling throughout the night at the garden.

Moving from west to east along the Wright Street corridor in Old East Hill, participating Night on the Tracks venues are The Handlebar, Blake Doyle Skatepark, From the Ground Up Community Garden, Pensacola MESS Hall, the 309 Punk Project, End of the Line Café, and Doc’s Hop Shop. The event is presented in partnership with the Old East Hill Preservation District. Admission is free to all venues except The Handlebar, which is offering half off the cover charge with proof of attendance at one of the other participating venues.

The Handlebar is holding a cover show with bands performing famous acts. The show runs 5pm to 12am.

The newly opened Blake Doyle Skatepark presents an art exhibition by artist and skate Etep Yllek (Pete Kelly) from 5-8pm. The exhibition is entitled "happy?" What is your version of happy? Here is mine. Am I happy? What can I do to be more or help others to be happy?

From the Ground Up is offering stand-up comedy sponsored by Calliope Films from 6-8pm. More information on Calliope: https://www.filmsbycalliope.com/. The LaRua Garden Market also will be held throughout the night featuring vendors, artists, and food.

Pensacola MESS Hall encourages attendees to Exercise Your Scientific Mind with hands-on science fun for all ages from 530-730pm.

309 Punk Project is hosting an exhibition of the work of artists in residence Felicia E. Gail & WM Johnson from 530-830pm. More information on the artists: https://www.feliciaegail.us/; https://travelbacktoblue.com/ ; http://www.wmjohnss proonphotography.com/
