The three-day immunity hearing for former Okaloosa County Deputy Eddie Duran ended Wednesday morning after the last defense witnesses were called to the stand.Judge William Stone will make his ruling after attorneys on both sides submit closing arguments and proposed findings of fact. Those documents are to be submitted by Aug. 14.

The immunity hearing for former Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Deputy Eddie Duran began Monday. The court heard from witnesses, including the girlfriend of U.S. Air Force Senior Airman Roger Fortson, who was on a FaceTime call with him when he was shot and killed by Duran in 2024.

This Saturday, a handful of bands will play a benefit show to raise money for the family of Senior Airman Roger Fortson, who was shot and killed in his apartment by an Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Deputy in May of last year. Proceeds will help the family travel to Fort Walton Beach for court.
