The past couple of years have been difficult to say the least for animal rescue groups. And that has been the case for SOCKS with fundraising events put mostly on hold due to the pandemic. This is our first year back in person. We hope by offering a hybrid event we can provide a fun and safe evening for everyone.

This fundraiser helps our shelter continue to care for the cats and kittens in our community and give them a brighter future. In the past year, we had over 400 intakes and 436 adoptions. We simply could not do this without donations.

“This is our 4th year for Top Hats and Tails and it gets better every year. We look forward to seeing our donors and friends again, both in-person and on-line.” says Nancy Schimmer, the organization’s President.

Support your feline friends by attending Top Hats & Tails. There is still time to donate a silent auction item. Contact nancy@saveourcatsandkittens.com. Purchase your tickets online at https://bit.ly/3sFrQ99

  • The University of West Florida Department of Theatre presents “9 to 5:, The Musical” written by Patricia Resnick with music by Dolly Parton. Performances will be held from April 22 through April 24 and April 29 through May 1 with shows at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and 2:30 p.m. on Sunday. All performances will take place in the Mainstage Theatre of the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Building 82, on the Pensacola Campus.

Based on the movie from 1980 and featuring music by Dolly Parton, Patricia Resnick’s screwball comedy “9 to 5: The Musical,” takes a swipe at workplace culture. Office manager Violet is joined by recent divorcée Judy and sexy Texan Doralee to show their “sexist, egotistical, lying, hypocritical bigot” of a boss that they will no longer be taken advantage of by developing a no- holds- barred plan to turn the tables on their boss. The only question is whether they can change the office culture to reach their full potential or ifwill the whole thing will come crashing down when the CEO arrives for an unplanned visit.

Director Sara Schoch and Tina Buran, music director, lead the creative team consisting of students Kylie Giliberto, choreographer; Brittany Barton, set designer; Cole Hudson, costume designer; and theatre department chair Charles Houghton, lighting designer. General admission ticket prices are $18 per person for adults, $14 per person for senior citizens and active military, $12 per person for non-UWF students and UWF faculty and staff, and $7 for high school students. UWF students are admitted free with their Nautilus cards. Tickets can be purchased at the CFPA Box Office, Building 82, 850.857.6285 or online at uwf.edu/tickets.
