The Pensacola Bay Concert Band presents their next performance on Monday, May 20th, 2024 at 7:30pm at the University of West Florida Center for Fine and Performing Arts, 11000 University Pkwy Bldg. 82, Pensacola, FL 32514.

Our “Inaugural Conductor’s Choice Concert…With a Touch of Symphony” will feature music selected by our nine Co-Conductors, and we will welcome guest conductors Tyler Arcari (Tate High School and Troy University graduate) and Dr. Steven Sudduth (University of West Florida interim director of bands and music education). Our feature soloist for the evening will be Dale Riegle, Principal Trumpet of the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra.

Free admission, but please bring non-perishable food items that will be donated to Manna Food Pantries.

The Pensacola Bay Concert Band is a 110-piece 501(c)3 non-profit community band for adults. Founded in 2014, the PBCB provides a place for adults, regardless of ability, to play in an enjoyable, non-competitive ensemble, without tryouts or membership fees. What: Bike Pensacola’s May Slow Ride

Join Bike Pensacola for the most popular bike ride in town--the Slow Ride! Each month we explore the quiet, scenic streets of Pensacola's many historic neighborhoods for a fun and leisurely ride among friends.

For May our host and sponsor is Ride More Bicycles, a downtown Pensacola bicycle shop that opened in 2015 and does business at their iconic corner storefront at Gregory and Tarragona St. Ride More offers new bicycles and accessories for sale, along with a full suite of services to include tune ups, suspension services, electronic support, bike assembly and more. They also host group rides every Tuesday and Saturday.

Because most cyclists are “self taught,” each month we offer information about bicycle laws, safety tips, and addressing different bicycling skills that will help keep rides safe and enjoyable. The ride will be about one hour and ten minutes long, at a casual pace. Nobody will be “dropped” or left behind. Children ages 10 - 16 must be accompanied by an adult, and no pets are allowed on the Rides. Cyclists under 16 must wear a helmet by law; ages 16 and up helmets are recommended but are not required by law. And we will enjoy a ride escort by officers of the Pensacola Police Department.

Permanent Exhibit: “Estuarine Echoes: Time, Tides, and Human Stories in the Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuaries”
Funded by the Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program Community Grant, this immersive journey through time explores the crucial role estuaries have played in shaping human history. Discover the intricate relationship between human activity and our precious estuarine ecosystems, from ancient shell middens to modern environmental challenges.

Temporary Exhibit: “Hawkshaw Led You Here”
Curated by UWF anthropology graduate student Ellie Minette, this exhibition chronicles the birth of public archaeology in our city. Delve into the remarkable tale of how Dr. Judy Bense’s visionary project preserved invaluable cultural heritage and sparked a movement. Explore the layers of Pensacola’s past, from a precolonial Woodland Period village to a historic African American neighborhood along Pensacola Bay, and celebrate the ongoing spirit of discovery.

Enjoy light hors d’oeuvres and drinks as you mingle amidst these captivating displays.

During the summer months we will be offering our new family friendly Summer Seagrass Sleuths program one Friday per month!

🦀Come join us on Friday, May 24th at Shoreline Park in Gulf Breeze to discover some of the critters living amongst the seagrass beds in our estuaries! Our staff will help you run a seine net and go through all the critters that we catch.

Please note, this is NOT a drop off event and parents/guardians must stay with their kids.

There will be mini demonstrations throughout the Demonstration Gardens: Propagating Plants, Summer Vegetables, Heritage Roses, Composting and more. Come support our local community vendors: D&C Nursery, Crazy Native Plant Lady, Escarosa Beekeepers, and ECUA with Bloom. There will be a limited number of plants from the Master Gardeners. The 14th annual Laurel Hill Arts and Heritage Festival is coming June 1 and promises to be bigger than ever. Hosted by the historic Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church, the event will also be the first to take advantage of the church’s new pavilion. This year the event teamed up with the Crestview Artists’ Collective, which resulted in many new exhibitors to the event. Live local entertainment throughout the day; great food by local vendors and the Boy Scouts of Troop 773; and cultural enrichment from area heritage groups enhance the works of visual and multi-media artists. It's all part of what a previous attendee from Pensacola called “the perfect small-town community festival.”

The University of West Florida Military and Veterans Resource Center invites the campus community and the general public to the Memorial Day Observance Ceremony on Thursday, May 23, 2024, from 2-4 p.m. in the University Commons Auditorium (Building 22). Hear from guest speaker Navy Capt. Scott "Mongo" Janik, commanding officer of the Naval School of Aviation Safety. The event will honor and recognize the fallen, MIA, and POW, and the theme is local veteran memorial parks and monuments. There will be free parking available in parking lots K and H. Choral Evensong for Trinity Sunday
26 May 2024 – 5:00 p.m.
Organ Prelude-Recital – 4:30 p.m.

On Sunday, May 26th at 5:00 p.m., the Christ Church choir and guests will sing Choral Evensong, one of the oldest and most beautiful liturgies in the Anglican tradition, in observance of Trinity Sunday. Evensong will feature Anglican Chant, the Magnificat and Nunc dimittis in B Minor by T. Tertius Noble, Responses by John Barnard, “In the year King Uzziah died” by David McK. Williams, and congregational hymns.
Choral Evensong will be preceded by a half-hour organ recital prelude by Christ Church Director of Music Ministry Dr. Jason Hobratschk. The recital program will feature the Prelude and Fugue in C Minor, Op. 37, no. 1, by Felix Mendelssohn and the Prelude, Fugue & Variation, Op. 18, by César Franck.
A festive reception will follow Choral Evensong.
