  • The Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program is proud to announce our Restoration Rambles Program! These easy, guided walking tours highlight local restoration sites and will be offered monthly from November - March on rotating Fridays and Saturdays.     Come join us on Friday, February 9th from 11am-12pm CT in downtown Pensacola! You'll learn about Project Greenshores, an urban restoration site in Pensacola Bay along Bayfront Parkway. Bring your binoculars if you have them—this site attracts a variety of bird species that can be spotted in the marsh and on the breakwaters!

    This guided tour will be on a paved walkway.

    All ages are welcome, but the content being discussed on the walking tour is geared for adult learners.

    Sun protection and a bottle of water is recommended.


    DIRECTIONS
    We will meet at Admiral Mason Park and walk over together to the Memorial Overlook to catch a great view of Project Greenshores. Additional details will be sent to registered attendees 1-2 days before the event.

  • Our “For the Love of Gardening” event, sponsored by the Pensacola Federation of Garden Clubs, is scheduled for February 13, 2024, at the Pensacola Garden Center. It begins at 8:00 AM with Truth Mobile Sharpening and continues with registration, refreshments, and a free book selection. The day is packed with sessions by six notable speakers including a Master Gardener, a floral designer. the Florida Federation of Garden clubs president, and representatives from the Escambia and Santa Rosa County Extension offices covering topics from historical gardeners to practical gardening techniques. Attendees can also learn about water conservation, hydroponic gardening, and appreciating natural beauty in gardens. A native plant sale concludes the event.

    Additional features include a mobile sharpening service by Pedro Luis and a sale of native plants by Ashley Moore’s Native Plant Company. The registration fee of $25 includes lunch, snacks, beverages, and handouts. Attendees are encouraged to bring tools for sharpening and to explore the gardening book collection donated to the event. The deadline for registration is February 1, 2024.

    Participants in American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED Training courses gain the knowledge, skills, and abilities to recognize and respond to emergency situations until EMS arrives.

    Students learn proficient CPR, how to effectively utilize an AED, and how to best respond to the onset of sudden illnesses - Diabetic Attack, Stroke, Poisoning, Allergic Reaction, and other first aid emergencies.

    The American Red Cross issues certificates for students who successfully complete this course, valid for 2 years from the date of the class.

    Classes are $135 per person and are open to anyone 12 years and up.

  • Take part in this cocktail mix off as you sample and vote for the most scientific cocktails in the area. Local bartenders and mixologists will be showcasing the chemistry, biology, and physics behind preparing these exciting cocktails...expand your vodka-bulary by sampling these scientific creations. The evening will also include light refreshments, live music, and chances to win prizes. All proceeds benefit the Emerald Coast Science Center, a 501(c)3 nonprofit. Get into the spirit at this amazing event for guests ages 21 and up.

  • It's Military Appreciation Day at the museum! All active duty members, veterans, and their families receive free admission to the museum today with valid military ID. Simply present your military ID at check in to receive museum access for your family.

    Schedule of Events
    -Check out the sciPad and play interactive games on our room-sized iPad from 12-3 p.m.
    -Join us for a Creature Feature at 1:30 p.m. where you can get up close with some of the center's Animal Ambassadors. Seating for the Creature Feature is available on a first come, first served basis. No reservations accepted.
    -Museum indoor exhibit halls and outdoor exploration spaces are open 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

  • We're hosting our Second Annual Homeschool Science Fair! Both competitive and non-competitive divisions are available for participation. Students ages 6 and up are invited to participate in the fair; students must be able to present their experiments on their own for our judges. This is an excellent opportunity for all homeschool students looking to explore the various STEM disciplines. Light refreshments provided.   • Kiwanis Club of Big Lagoon is bringing the community together with a delicious pancake, sausage, fruit, juice, milk, and coffee. Bring the kids, they love Kiwanis pancakes. Snowbirds are also welcome. This is a free event, but donations are accepted.
