Vertical Oyster Garden Building Volunteer Event

Vertical Oyster Garden Building Volunteer Event

Visit Pensacola is teaming up with the Pensacola and Perdido Bays Estuary Program to help Pensacola Bay oysters!

Are you visiting our beautiful beaches and looking to do more than just soak up the sun? Join us for a unique Volunteer Vacation experience and help protect the stunning waterways that make Pensacola so special!

Whether you're a local or visitor, you won't want to miss this opportunity to give back and learn more about Pensacola oysters.

Volunteer with us to help construct Vertical Oyster Gardens (VOGs) out of oyster shell recycled from Pensacola Beach restaurants!

VOGs are suspended structures built out of recycled oyster shell that can hang from docks to provide a surface for oysters to grow on.

Once oysters start growing on a VOG, they can enhance water filtration, create habitat for other marine life, and reproduce to support our oyster populations across the bay!

Registration is required as supplies are limited, please click "Find Tickets" for our free volunteer registration! If you need assistance registering through our volunteer platform, please contact info@ppbep.org.

All ages are welcome to participate. Volunteers under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. Any volunteers that are 17 years old and participating on their own must bring a completed waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian.
