The Value of Urban Trees - A Walking Tour

The Value of Urban Trees - A Walking Tour

Come along on a walking tour of downtown Pensacola to see how trees bring a range of environmental and quality-of-life benefits to the community, including improving water quality and providing shade. Our tour leader is University of Florida-Milton horticulture professor Dr. Mack Thetford, who has spent nearly three decades studying the performance of trees and landscape plantings in communities.

We’ll see how trees can be smartly placed in even the most dense urban environments, and both good and bad tree plantings that offer lessons for better accommodation of trees as Pensacola grows. The tour will visit the downtown, Seville and Aragon neighborhoods and will visit trees ranging in age from one to over one hundred years old.

The tour is free, but registration is required in order to ensure a quality experience. The tour meeting spot is in a convenient location at the edge of downtown and will be shared upon registration. To reserve your spot please email christian@healthygulf.org or call (850) 687-9968.
