Japan Culture Day

Japan Culture Day

Immerse yourself in the rich and vibrant culture of Japan at this year's Japan Culture Day on Saturday, Nov. 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the University of West Florida’s Japan House (Building 71). This free event promises an exciting lineup of cultural activities, workshops, performances and displays for participants of all ages.

The Japanese cultural activities will include samurai armor displays, ikebana flower arranging, kimono dress-up and Japanese calligraphy throughout the afternoon. Demonstrations of Eisa Okinawan taiko drumming, traditional Japanese dance, tea ceremony and martial arts will take place at various times. Participants can make their own “shichi-go-san” children’s celebration drawings, bookmarks and origami creations to take home. Free food and drinks will also be available.

The Japan Culture Day is presented by the Japan-America Society of Northwest Florida and the University of West Florida’s Office of International Affairs. It is sponsored in part by the Consulate-General of Japan in Miami and the Japan Foundation, New York.
