An Evening with Art Spiegelman

An Evening with Art Spiegelman
March 31 – Join the UWF College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities for “An Evening with Art Spiegelman,” a virtual event with the Pulitzer Prize-winning artist, illustrator and author. The event, beginning at 6pm CST, is free and open to the public, but advanced registration is required.
Art Spiegelman has almost single-handedly brought comic books out of the toy closet and onto the literature shelves. In 1992, he won the Pulitzer Prize for his masterful Holocaust narrative “Maus”— which portrayed Jews as mice and Nazis as cats. “Maus II” continued the remarkable story of his parents’ survival of the Nazi regime and their lives later in America. Through “Maus,” Spiegelman redefined the graphic novel and memoir format, and the medium’s place in literature. Hosted by the UWF College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities, this event is presented by the Seligman First Amendment Series and Experience UWF Downtown Lecture Series.
