Amazing Kids Day

Amazing Kids Day

WSRE PBS will host Pensacola’s third annual Amazing Kids Day for families affected by autism on Saturday, Sept. 20, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the Jean & Paul Amos Performance Studio at Pensacola State College.

Amazing Kids Day is a free, sensory-friendly event for children with special needs to explore fun and educational activities. At the same time, parents and caregivers can learn about some of the local family resources available to them.

The following organizations have signed up to participate with educational resources and fun activities designed for kids with autism: The Arc Gateway, Autism Pensacola, Canine Companions Emerald Coast Chapter, Escambia Amateur Astronomers Association, FDLRS Emerald Coast Child Find, Pensacola Symphony Orchestra, Western Panhandle Early Steps, and West Florida Public Libraries.

WSRE will offer a green screen TV studio activity, computer stations for exploring PBS KIDS online, and meet-and-greets with Carl the Collector for those who would like a photo with the new PBS KIDS character. Introduced last fall, Carl is the first autistic lead character in a PBS KIDS television series. On the show, he pays great attention to detail and loves collecting things.

Amazing Kids Day is sponsored in part by ABLE United, Aaron Erskine, UnitedHealthcare, and Jacque Falzone.

The event will accommodate a limited number of children; therefore, registration is requested. Event information and online registration can be found at wsre.org/events.
