Ray Eddington and Dean Light are candidates in the race for Santa Rosa County Commission District 4 , which Universal Primary Contest that will be decided on Primary Election Day.

Secretary of State Cord Byrd has set the dates for the Okaloosa County School Board District 1 race after candidates in that race did not qualify for the August primary.

The Aug. 18 ballot measure won’t choose a superintendent. It will determine how future superintendents are selected.

More than 650,000 ballots have been cast for the Aug. 18 primary, including just under 29,000 using the “early voting” option that until Thursday was available in just 10 counties.

Escambia County voters first approved the local option sales tax in 1992, then renewed it in 1997, 2006 and again in 2014.

U.S. Sen. Ashley Moody made it official Thursday, paying the qualifying fee to run for the federal office she was appointed to last year.

Republican candidate Byron Donalds and Democratic candidate Jerry Demings will be making campaign stops in Northwest Florida.
