  • Join us as we learn to be better advocates through inspiration from the words and life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. We’ll learn more about Dr. King from someone who knew him--Jawana V. Jackson--Founder of The House by the Side of the Road. Mrs. Jackson’s family regularly hosted Dr. King in her home while she was growing-up in Selma, Alabama, including a six month stay by Dr. King as he planned the Selma to Montgomery March.

Mike Will, Pensacola State College Professor of English, helps us better understand what made Dr. King such an effective communicator. Mr. Will explores elements of Dr. King’s I Have a Dream speech, and how we can learn to better structure our oral communication. Examples of current environmental issues will be used to demonstrate more effective communication skills.
