  • Two Tracks, One Empowering Day for People with Movement Disorders and their Loved Ones

When you’re a care partner or adult child, the questions you have about caring for and coping with your loved one’s movement disorder are different than the questions and concerns of your loved one. Our Renew! Retreat fills that gap, providing a two-track, in-person, FUN program that meets each person’s unique needs: care partners and adult children deep-dive into connection and knowledge in one room, while people with movement disorders learn in an uplifting environment in a separate “clubhouse” room.

This is your chance to interact with experts about your experience, ask your most pressing questions in a safe space, and connect with peers in a lively, playful gathering.

*Please park in Lot K. Parking is free, but the venue requires all vehicles parking to be registered in their system. You can register your car here: https://uwf.edu/finance-and-administration/departments/business-and-auxiliary-services/parking-and-transportation/event-parking-permit/ *

Arrivals and Exhibits: 9:00 AM MT
Program: 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM MT
    Track One: People with Parkinson’s
Track Two: Care Partners and Adult Children

    What’s In It for You:
Show up together. If you’re a care partner or adult child, your loved one with PD, or other movement disorder, will be supported in their program track. This is your safe space to talk about what matters most to you. Hear from and interact with expert speakers and experience a movement break that’s tailored to you, led by movement disorder wellness leaders. Spark connections with people who know what it’s like to be in your shoes. Talk about your most pressing concerns and listen to your peers share their concerns and experiences. Get access to the empowering resources you need. Feel renewed in your knowledge and your ability to take on PD or other movement disorder!

    You’re invited!

Anyone impacted by a movement disorder is welcome at this FREE event.

We provide these events at no charge to you because you deserve to feel empowered.

    FREE lunch is provided.

  • Discover the sizzling stories behind the constellations in this planetarium event for adults (21+). Explore Meso-American legends and mythology hidden in the sky as you take a trip through the cosmos during the ultimate planetarium adventure. Much like all our Sordid Secrets, this is an adult event, as those Mayan, Incan, and Aztec gods definitely didn't keep things rated PG!

Our Planetarium is an inflatable dome. Guests sit on cushions on the floor of the planetarium to view the show. Due to size, space is limited to 25 patrons at a time. Purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended for this reason. On show nights, please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled showing. In case of no-shows/late shows: reserved spots will be released at show time to make space for the next party.

Shows begin at 6 and 7 pm and last approximately 45 minutes.

Seating is limited and very popular. We encourage purchasing your tickets in advance, as this is a first come, first served event. Please call 850-664-1261, stop by the Science Center, or use our online ticketing option to purchase your tickets.

  • Join hands with fellow residents, business owners, and tourists as we take our annual stand against oil and gas drilling in the Gulf of Mexico and a transition to clean energy. Hands Across the Sand takes place on beaches around the world, as communities come together to send a powerful message of protecting the beaches and coastal areas we love.

We’ll meet at the Gulfside Pavilion for live music, education, and inspiring speeches about protecting our white sands and blue-green waters. At 6 pm we’ll walk to the water’s edge to hold hands in silent remembrance of the 2010 oil spill and in support of a transition to clean energy from the sun and wind.

Hands Across the Sand comes at a time when the longstanding Congressional moratorium on drilling in the eastern Gulf of Mexico near Florida is about to expire, leaving our state vulnerable. Yet the transition to the nearly infinite power of clean renewable energy is well underway, with explosive growth in solar and wind energy as Americans embrace the future.

Event partners include Healthy Gulf, 350 Pensacola. 850eco and Surfrider Foundation Emerald Coast. For more information visit Hands Across the Sand Pensacola Beach on Facebook or call 850-687-9968 or email christian@healthygulf.org
