FDLE Seizes Documents from Escambia Public Safety

northescambia.com

Records from Escambia County government are in the hands of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, as part of an ongoing investigation.

The probe began earlier this year, focusing on the Emergency Medical Services division of the Public Safety Department. At issue, allegations by county medical director Dr. Rayme Edler that at least five EMS employees had falsified training documents.

On Thursday, FDLE officers seized county documents from the public safety office as part of their work on this case. County administrator Janice Gilley told northescambia.com she could not comment on the nature of the investigation – but did say that the county is cooperating fully.

In an email, a spokeswoman for the county reiterated Gilley’s comment, saying “it would be inappropriate to discuss details at this time.”

Gilley also had no comment on whether this is connected with a state Department of Health investigation earlier this year, of the resignations of some senior-level county officials.

There’s also been no comment from FDLE.
