Aero Sekur Moving To Pensacola

Pensacola is saying “ciao” to an Italian firm that’s moving its U.S. operation from Parsippany, New Jersey.

Aero Sekurspecializes in safety systems and advanced flexible structures for the global aerospace and defense markets. Vice President Ursella Slusher says Pensacola is a prime location, especially with their contracts in Fort Walton and with Eglin Air Force Base

The firm plans to hire five to seven employees in the first year. Their new digs are in an 8,000 sq. ft. facility on Herman Street. Slusher says the move from Jersey to Pensacola began last week.

Scott Luth, President and CEO of the Community Economic Development Association, says the area was on Aero Sekur’s short list of possible locations under consideration. Their presence, he says, continues to validate the area’s growing aviation industry., says the area was on Aero Sekur’s short list of possible locations under consideration. Their presence, he says, continues to validate the area’s growing aviation industry.

In a written statement, Pensacola Mayor Ashton Hayward pointed to the region’s century-long experience with aviation, which is being leveraged to compete for aviation-sector jobs today and tomorrow.

Speaking from Orlando, and the 2015 Heli-Expo , a helicopter trade show and exposition, the Chamber’s Scott Luth says attending such events enables them to meet with different companies, and invite them to visit and check out the Pensacola area’s existing industry base.

Aero Sekur was formed in 1993 by the merger of Irvin Aerospace and the Sekur division of Pirelli. Its headquarters are south of Rome, Italy. Besides its U.S. operation, another office is in West Sussex in Great Britain.
