Ó Súilleabháin Brothers: A Night of Irish Music

Ó Súilleabháin Brothers: A Night of Irish Music
The University of West Florida Dr. Grier Williams School of Music recently had an incredible opportunity arise and we have added it to our schedule. On Tuesday, Feb. 11th at 7:30pm, we will be presenting an evening of Irish song and poetry with Irish brothers Mícheál & Owen Ó Súilleabháin. The concert will be held in Rolfs Music Hall at the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Bldg. 82.
If you haven't had the opportunity to hear these incredible artists, you are definitely in for a treat. The brothers are actively involved in the Williams School of Music Study Abroad Irish Experience program, guiding our students through a variety of topics including poetry, story-telling, theology, song, philosophy and history.
The Ó Súilleabháin brothers perform a repertoire of song and poetry that has been handed down to them from their family and wider Irish tradition. Their background in musicology, philosophy and wider academia gives their excellent musicianship a deep yet light hearted insight. They are also brilliant entertainers, practicing hilarity as well as a deep reverence to the ground of tradition and innovation they inhabit. They have performed with Russell Crowe, The Chieftains, Sinead O Connor, and Nigel Kennedy, to name a few. This concert will include a capella song, their own original songs and poetry.
You can learn more about the brothers, their legendary mother Nóirín Ní Riain, and their tours to Ireland in 2023 at their website.
This concert is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. For tickets or more information, visit uwf.edu/cfpa or call the CFPA box office at 850.857.6285.
