  • Discover the sizzling stories behind the constellations in this planetarium event for adults (21+). Explore Mesoamerican mythology hidden in the sky as you take a trip through the cosmos during the ultimate planetarium adventure.

In this adults-only planetarium show we'll explore the Mayan, Incan, and Aztec myths that surround the sun, moon, and planets. You’ll hear crazy stories about ancient sensuality, mind-altering plants, and (of course) wild ways to use chocolate. You’ll also find out if it was better to win or lose the famous Aztec Ball Game. The night will conclude with an extra special constellation display of four constellation sets - Incan, Aymara, Aztec, & Nazca – to showcase the ancient Meso-American stories in the sky.

Our Planetarium is an inflatable dome. Guests sit on cushions on the floor of the planetarium to view the show. Due to size, space is limited to 25 patrons at a time. Purchasing tickets in advance is highly recommended for this reason. On show nights, please arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled showing. In case of no-shows/late shows: reserved spots will be released at show time to make space for the next party.

Shows begin at 6 and 7 pm and last approximately 45 minutes.

Seating is limited and very popular. We encourage purchasing your tickets in advance, as this is a first come, first served event. Please call 850-664-1261, stop by the Science Center, or use our online ticketing option to purchase your tickets.

  • The UWF Board of Trustees has initiated the search for the University’s next President and established a Presidential Search Committee to guide the identification and recruitment of highly qualified candidates. Their efforts will be supported by search consultant Funk Associates. Ultimately, the Committee will be responsible for recommending qualified candidates for the Board of Trustees’ review and consideration.

To assist with the recruitment process, the Search Committee would like to develop an in-depth understanding of the University’s needs and expectations. The Search Committee Chair and the search consultant will host a series of open forums and listening sessions with key university stakeholders to solicit input and guidance. This will be an opportunity for various UWF community constituents to share their thoughts and comments on the qualities and characteristics sought in the new President. The information gathered in these sessions will inform the development of the position profile and assist the Search Committee in finalizing the criteria by which candidates will be evaluated.

You are invited to attend the Community Town Hall session on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, from 4:45 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held in the UWF Usha Kundu MD College of Health (Darrell Gooden Center), Building 234, Room 218. Visit https://events.uwf.edu/event/presidential-search-listening-session-2025-08-26 for information on joining the meeting through Zoom and instructions on providing written comments.
