Hunter Morrison
ReporterHunter joined WUWF in 2021 as a student reporter.
Hunter has freelanced for various print publications across Northwest Florida, including The Bay Beacon, Navarre Press, Inweekly, and Crestview News Bulletin. He was also the Editor in Chief of the University of West Florida’s student newspaper, The Voyager. In 2022, he was named Best Radio News Reporter by the Southeastern Journalism Conference.
While working at WUWF, Hunter earned his B.A. in Communication Arts/Journalism from the University of West Florida (Class of 2022). When he’s not traveling or visiting museums, he enjoys photography, thrifting, spending time in the great outdoors, and looking for the best Thai food around. Contact: hunter@wuwf.org.

Earlier this month, a replica of the Pinta, a caravel style ship used by Christopher Columbus, was docked in Pensacola's Plaza de Luna for educational tours. Pensacola is one of many port cities the replica will see.

On Nov. 20, a gunman opened fire inside of Club Q, an LGBTQ+ nightclub in Colorado Springs, killing five people and injuring 17 others. In response to the shooting, Strive, a Pensacola-based advocacy group that serves the needs of transgender people, held a vigil at St. Paul Lutheran Church to commemorate the lives that were lost.

Transgender Day of Remembrance, observed on November 20, is a day to memorialize transgender, non-binary, and gender nonconforming individuals who have been murdered as a result of transphobia. In 2021, 50 fatalities were associated with transphobic acts of violence. Local trans activists spoke about the plight of transgender people in Northwest Florida.
