UWF test site closed
The UWF COVID-19 Test Site will be closed until further notice. The site was run primarily by the National Guard, which has been activated by the governor, according to a news release. WUWF will notify the public when the site reopens.

June testing sites in Escambia County
The Florida Department of Health in Escambia County (FDOH-Escambia) is expanding specimen collection for COVID-19 offered to Florida residents in June. The primary focus is virus testing from oral swabs to help identify those who are COVID positive and that need contact tracing.

The samples collected at this site will be processed by private labs, with results received typically in one week.
Persons who become sick should call, do not visit, their health care provider and tell them about their symptoms and travel history or exposure to a COVID-19 patient. Persons who do not have a health care provider or health insurance, may call (do not visit) Community Health Northwest Florida at 850-436-4630 or other community walk-in care locations, and tell them about their symptoms and travel history or exposure to a COVID-19 patient.
An online assessment screening for COVID-19 is available to determine if further diagnostic testing is needed. The screening can also be accessed by texting “Screen” to 850-318-3080. The screening is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You can also call the screening center at 850-434-4080 to determine if you need an appointment.
COVID-19 testing is available at several locations in Escambia County, including drive-thru and walk-up testing.
IMPORTANT: Pre-screening may be required before arriving at testing centers by calling the local COVID-19 Screening Call Center at 850-746-2684.
Santa Rosa Courthouse to check temperatures
Persons attempting to enter the Santa Rosa courthouse should expect to undergo a non-invasive temperature check beginning Monday. Screening questions regarding potential symptoms or prior exposure to COVID-19 will be asked upon entry. Refusal of the temperature screening or to answer screening questions will result in denial of access to the building.
Signage will be posted regarding the maintenance of proper social distancing, and those entering the courthouse will be required to wear a mask while inside the building. Plastic bins have been removed from the security checkpoint, and each person will be given a clear bag to place personal belongings in for screening.
Courthouse access remains limited to people who are required for court proceedings, or those individuals with other official business.
Santa Rosa County offices reopen Monday
Santa Rosa County offices, which have conducted business online, via email, phone, mail or drop box to the fullest extent possible during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, are reopening Monday.
Citizens are encouraged to continue to use these alternative options for business with the county as much as possible and are asked not to enter county offices if exhibiting symptoms of the virus. Facilities are disinfected daily and splash guards have been installed to minimize the risk of exposure for citizens and staff. The county will continue to follow the governor’s executive orders and the CDC guidelines of social distancing until further notice, however everyone has a role in the ensuring the county is as safe as possible to remain open.

45 more deaths in Florida

Since data reported at 10 a.m. Thursday, the deaths of 45 Florida residents who tested positive for COVID-19 have been reported in Broward, Charlotte, Collier, Dade, Dixie, Hendry, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Orange, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Putnam, Sarasota, St. Lucie and Washington counties.
ECAT to offer masks to riders
Beginning Monday, passengers will be encouraged to wear face masks while riding Escambia County Area Transit buses. If a rider does not already have a mask, ECAT employees will offer a mask to the passenger during the month of June to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. ECAT operators will also continue to wear masks.
Also beginning Monday, ECAT employees and operators will have their temperature taken when they arrive to work as a precaution. ECAT continues to implement safety measures such as limiting ridership to 10bus passengers and increased bus and facility cleanings. ECAT lobby areas are open at 25% occupancy (two people in the front lobby and eight people in the customer service area). Beach trolleys, which began service, Memorial Day Weekend, have seating spaced to accommodate social distancing.

COVID tests at PSC Warrington Campus
Escambia County has announced that the Pensacola State College Warrington Campus, 5555 U.S. 98 West, Pensacola, FL 32507, is a site for those who wish to be tested for exposure to the coronavirus.
The site is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today. Testing is available for Florida residents with or without symptoms of the virus. It is a drive-thru test; no appointment is necessary. Those who seek the test are asked to bring their Florida driver license.

City of Destin COVID-19 Small Business Grant
The City of Destin, in partnership with the Florida SBDC at UWF, has decided to fund a Small Business COVID-19 Recovery Grant Program. The City of Destin will fund the grant with a contribution of $103,000. The individual grant amount is $2,500. Each applicant or business can only receive one grant. The Florida SBDC at UWF will process COMPLETE application packets for eligible for-profit businesses; a third-party review board will review applications for approval; and UWF will distribute the appropriate funds to businesses who have been awarded the grant. The review board will confirm eligibility and approve the award of grant funding to each applicant on a case-by-case basis using the parameters listed below. The COVID-19 Grant is intended to assist for-profit businesses located within the Destin city limits, by addressing their immediate cash flow needs as a result of demonstrated economic injury due to COVID-19.
