The pandemic meant the end for scores of Tallahassee eating and drinking establishments. But at least one such place, featuring coffee and cats, actually saw its business pick up.
The Tally Cat Cafe in a small North Monroe strip center is co-owned by Katie Logue. She says her traffic actually went up while COVID raged.
"People have been so stressed with the pandemic, they're also looking for places they could go and decompress and relax. And this is a prime candidate for that sort of thing."
So much so that Logue said the Tally Cat Cafe has adopted out 1,000 cats since it first opened in May of 2018, when it became the city's second cat cafe in operation.
"A 'One-Thousand Celebration' is probably what we're going to go forth and call it," she chuckled.
A celebration that she said will include a formal event soon. The Tally Cat Cafe is affiliated with the Leon County Humane Society.
