Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida is celebrating their 30th anniversary this year, and has officially moved in to their new location in Pensacola. 

The sun was shining as Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida President and CEO Paula Shell welcomed a few dozen people gathered outside the new headquarters on Creighton Road. “We are honored to welcome all of you to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Florida Bear Family Foundation Center for Hope.

On the morning of May First, 2014, Executive Director De De Flounlacker sat outside of Manna’s Gonzales Street headquarters with a folding table, some donuts and a pot of coffee. She said "early estimates right now are we've probably lost about 60 to 75 percent of our food." In addition to the loss of food, the buildings were unsafe and unusable. "Unfortunately", she said, "All pantry services are currently suspended."

The University of West Florida has received a major grant from a local foundation.  Dr. Brendan Kelly, the interim vice president for UWF Advancement, announced the one million dollar gift from the Bear Family Foundation of Pensacola.
