If you’re a newly-minted graduate, want to change careers, or just need a job, then you need to swing by Pensacola State College on Friday.

CareerSource EscaRosa is teaming up with PSC to host its annual Spring Job Fair, at the Jean and Paul Amos Performance Studio, Building 23. It’s free and open to the public.

Morgan Cole, an outreach specialist with CareerSource EscaRosa, says that attendees will be able to network with firms who are actively seeking talented individuals to fill open positions.

“We have 63 employers registered to attend, ranging from hospitality to hospitals,” said Cole. We’ve even got a lot of healthcare employers, along with Ingalls Shipbuilding and Austell.”

Other firms will be in information technology, administration, customer service and retail, communications, government, and corrections, among others. Cole says the first step in going to a job fair is doing your homework.

“Check out the list of employers, which is on our website, www.careersourceescarosa.com,” said Cole. “So before you walk in the door you know who you want to visit.”

All positions offered by the participating firms are also listed on www.employflorida.com, and everyone who fills out a registration form is automatically entered onto that website. Cole says there have been instances where companies have hired applicants on the spot, so be sure to dress for the job you want, not the job you already have.

“Business casual or business attire, depending on what you want to do,” said Cole. “Bring plenty of copies of your resume as well. There will be employers interviewing individuals on the spot.”

Job fairs, says Cole, sometimes can lead to applicants walking out the door with a scheduled interview, or a promise that the employer will contact them later. Last year the fair attracted about 800 job and career seekers. That number could be down this year, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

“With the unemployment rate being lower than it’s been in the past eight years, we do expect to see a little bit of a downturn in the number of job seekers attending,” said Cole. “However, we’re not seeing any of our employers lacking the need for staffing.”

And the event isn’t just for finding a job. CareerSource EscaRosa’s Morgan Cole says they’ll be on hand to provide information to those looking to change careers and/or get additional job training.

Once again, the CareerSource EscaRosa Spring Job Fair is Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p-m, at the Jean and Paul Amos Studio at Pensacola State College. More information can be found at www.careersourceescarosa.com.
