Uptick In Deaths Statewide, Locally
After a lower average of daily deaths reported, the state reported 167 deaths Friday, up from earlier in the week. The state also added 5,750 infections. Locally, nine deaths were reported. Five in Escambia County, one in Santa Rosa, one in Okaloosa and two in Walton.
Local numners:
- Escambia added 31 cases and has a 3.63% positivity rate
- Santa Rosa added 11 cases and has a 3.55% positivity rate
- Okaloosa added 15 and has a 4.22% positivity rate
- Walton added 6 cases and has a 3.26% positivity rate

AMIkids Pensacola Hosting Food Giveaway For March 31
AMIkids Pensacola, a nonprofit organization in Pensacola will host a food giveaway Wednesday, March 31. In partnership with local restaurant, Bonfire Pizza, AMIkids will serve hot meals (hamburgers, hot dogs and chicken fingers) in a drive-thru style at its facility located at 3686 Muldoon Road in Pensacola. Individuals who would like to pick up food may do so beginning at 11 a.m. Food will be cooked on site and served until it runs out. No RSVP or reservations are necessary. Although donations are not required, any funds donated on March 31 will assist AMIkids’ workforce development program to implement construction training, culinary training, GED and job placement services to men and women, ages 18 – 24. State Adds 5,773 Cases, 109 Deaths
The state added 5,773 new infections according to Thursday's FDOH report. An additional 109 deaths were also reported, an uptick from the last week where the average increase was around 40. Of the 109 deaths, three were from the local area, all within Santa Rosa County.

- Escambia added 34 cases and has a 4.22% positivity rate
- Santa Rosa added 29 cases and has a 6.16% positivity rate
- Okaloosa added 24 cases and has a 5.07% positivity rate
- Walton added 12 cases and has a 4.53% positivity rate
DeSantis Announces Vaccine Eligibility For Residents 40 And Older
Thursday morning, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced via video message that all Floridians aged 40 and older will be eligible to recieve the COVID-19 vaccine starting Monday, March 29. And all adults 18 and older will be eligible beginning Monday, April 5.
Wednesday, March 24
State Adds 5,143 Cases, 31 Deaths
Florida added 5,143 infections and 31 deaths according to Wednesday's FDOH report. Of the 31 deaths, none were reported from the local area.

- Escambia added 34 cases and has a 3.29% positivity rate
- Santa Rosa added 28 cases and has a 6.59% positivity rate
- Okaloosa added 20 cases and has a 5.12% positivity rate
- Walton added 10 cases and has a 5.38% positivity rate
Tuesday, March 23
State Adds 5,302 Cases, 41 Deaths
Florida added 5,302 cases according to Tuesday's FDOH report. An additional 41 deaths were also added, one of which was reported from Escambia County, no other local deaths reported.

- Escambia added 24 cases and has a 3.53% positivity rate
- Santa Rosa added 24 cases and has a 5.87% positivity rate
- Okaloosa added 22 cases and has a 4.49% positivity rate
- Walton added 4 cases and has a 1.90% positivity rate
Monday, March 22
State Adds 39 Deaths
Following a mostly downward trend of infections and deaths, the state added 2,862 cases Monday according to FDOH. Total infections have topped over two million at 2,011,211. No local deaths reported.

- Santa Rosa added 13 cases and has a 16.35% positivity rate
- Okaloosa added 2 cases and has a 2.65% positivity rate
