Sunday, Feb. 28

State Adds 5,539 Cases, 126 Deaths

Florida added 5,539 infections according to Sunday's FDOH report and 126 deaths. Locally, there were no additional deaths reported. 

Local numbers:

  • Escambia added 52 cases and has a 4.71% positivity rate
  • Santa Rosa added 50 cases and has a 12.07% positivity rate
  • Okaloosa added 60 cases and has a 11.60% positivity rate
  • Walton added 11 cases and has a 5.63% positivity rate

Saturday, Feb. 27

State Adds 5,459 Cases, 118 Deaths

The state added 5,459 infections and 118 deaths according to Saturday's FDOH report. Of the 118 deaths, six were reported from local areas: one in Escambia County and five in Santa Rosa. No additional deaths reported in Okaloosa or Walton County. 

Local numbers:

  • Escambia added 73 cases and has a 4.94% positivity rate
  • Santa Rosa added 38 cases and has a 6.76% positivity rate
  • Okaloosa added 86 cases and has a 13.85% positivity rate
  • Walton added 11 cases and has a 3.48% positivity rate

Friday, Feb. 26

State Adds 5,922 Cases, 144 Deaths

The state added 5,922 infections according to Friday's FDOH report. An additional 144 deaths were reported, the total deaths is now 31,162. Of the 144 deaths, eight were reported locally: six in Escambia, one in Santa Rosa and one in Walton. No additional deaths reported in Okaloosa County. 

Local numbers:

  • Escambia added 82 cases and has a 4.94% positivity rate
  • Santa Rosa added 48 cases and has an 8.81% positivity rate
  • Okaloosa added 63 cases and has a 7.42% positivity rate
  • Walton added 21 cases and has a 5.83% positivity rate

Thursday, Feb. 25

State Adds 6,640 Cases, 140 Deaths

The state added 6,640 new infections according to Thursday's FDOH report. An additional 140 deaths were also reported statewide. Of those 140 deaths, nine were reported locally with four in Escambia and five in Okaloosa. No additional deaths reported in Santa Rosa or Okaloosa counties. 

Local numbers:

  • Escambia added 82 cases and has a 5.28% positivity rate
  • Santa Rosa added 57 cases and has a 8.45% positivity rate
  • Okaloosa added 149 cases and has a 14.79% positivity rate
  • Walton added 22 cases and has a 4.25% positivity rate

Wednesday, Feb. 24

Mass Vaccine Event For Veterans 

The Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System will host mass COVID-19 vaccination events at the Biloxi VA Medical Center in Biloxi, MS, and Joint Ambulatory Care Center in Pensacola, on Saturday, February 27, 2021, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The vaccine appointments are open to veterans 65 and up, veterans with a high-risk medical condition, veterans who are essential workers, eligible high-risk veterans including community living centers and other congregate living settings, homeless veterans, hemodialysis patients, solid organ transplant patients or patients who are listed for transplant, spinal cord injury, and chemotherapy patients (receiving chemotherapy in a clinic/hospital setting) caregivers of a veteran enrolled in the comprehensive caregiver support program and receiving a monthly allotment from the VA.

If you meet the criteria to receive a vaccine, call 1-800-296-8872 (Option 2, then Option 1) to schedule an appointment. If not, sign up on th website at biloxi.va.gov. 

State Adds 7,128 Cases, 129 Deaths

Florida added 7,128 infections and 129 deaths according to Wednesday's FDOH report. Of the 129 deaths, five were from local areas: four in Santa Rosa County and one in Okaloosa County. 

Local numbers:

  • Escambia added 87 cases and has a 5.48% positivity rate
  • Santa Rosa added 55 cases and has a 7.09% positivity rate
  • Okaloosa added 46 cases and has a 6.04% positivity rate
  • Walton added 28 cases and has a 7.78% positivity rate 

Tuesday, Feb. 23

State Adds 5,610 Cases, 154 Deaths

Florida added 5,610 infections and 154 deaths according to Tuesday's FDOH report. Of the 154 deaths, 13 were reported from local areas. Escambia reported 12 and Santa Rosa reported one. Total deaths in Escambia are 620, in Santa Rosa: 252, in Okaloosa: 321 and in Walton: 80. 

Local numbers:

  • Escambia added 62 cases and has a 5.71% positivity rate
  • Santa Rosa added 36 cases and as a 9.02% positivity rate
  • Okaloosa added 63 cases and has a 9.81% positivity rate
  • Walton added 28 cases and has a 10.93% positivity rate

DeSantis Expands COVID Vaccine To Teachers, Police

At a press conference Tuesday morning, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced an expansion of retail sites for the COVID vaccine as well as the expanding four federal sites to administer the vaccine to teachers and sworn police officers 50 and older. For more information, click here

Monday, Feb. 22

State Adds 4,151 Cases, 161 Deaths

Florida added 4,151 infections and 161 deaths according to Monday's FDOH report. Florida's total cases is 1,872,923 and total deaths is 30,595. Of the 161 additional deaths, none were reported from local areas. 

Local numbers:

  • Escambia added 32 cases and has a 8.18% positivity rate
  • Santa Rosa added 23 cases and has a 12.77% positivity rate
  • Okaloosa added 23 cases and has an 8.07% positivity rate 
  • Walton added 10 cases and has an 8.64% positivity rate
