Weekly Update from Okaloosa FDOH
Community risk continues to be high, but Okaloosa County continues to show a drop in cases and an increase in vaccinations, according to the weekly disease surveillance report. The resident case count has increased by 801. The county's positivity rate has dropped to 16.7%, which is nearly a 10% decrease from last week. More than 3,600 residents have been vaccinated in the last week. According to the CDC, 11 deaths have been reported in the last week.

Updates from Pensacola, Okaloosa FDOH
The City of Pensacola reported hospitalization numbers for the local three hospitals. As of Wednesday, there are 236 hospitalizations across the three hospitals. "There has been a consistent downward trend in local hospitalizations over the past few weeks, but we will continue to monitor as numbers remain high," Mayor Grover Robinson said in a Facebook post.

In Okaloosa County, COVID-19 numbers are also decreasing, but the positivity rate remains elevated at 26.6% and the community risk level is still rated as "high." Local hospitals report being 88.6% full with 34.5% of those beds occupied by COVID-19 patients. Of the hospitalized COVID patients, more than 87% are unvaccinated. Florida Department of Health-Okaloosa County reported 1,303 additional COVID cases in the past week and is averaging 186 cases per day.

Vaccination Schedule For Community Health Northwest Florida

This week Community Health Northwest Florida, in partnership with Escambia County, will continue to operate its walk-in vaccination clinic inside Brownsville Community Center. The clinic is open to individuals age 18 and older. Participants have the choice of the Moderna (two-dose) or Johnson & Johnson (one and done) vaccine.

Monday, Sept. 13, Wednesday Sept. 15 and Friday, Sept. 17
Time: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Location: Brownsville Community Center – 3200 W. Desoto St.
Vaccine: Moderna (ages 18+) and Johnson & Johnson (ages 18+)

Time: 3 to 5 p.m.
Location: CHNWF Century Pediatrics – 501 Church St., Century
Vaccine: Pfizer (ages 12+) and Johnson & Johnson (ages 18+)

Thursday, Sept. 16
Time: 2 to 5 p.m.
Location: American Legion Post # 193 – 2708 N. 12th Ave.
Vaccine: Pfizer (ages 12+) and Johnson & Johnson (ages 18+)

Friday, Sept. 17
Time: 3 to 5 p.m.
Location: CHNWF Highway 90 Pediatrics – 4435 US Hwy 90
Vaccine: Pfizer (ages 12+) and Johnson & Johnson (ages 18+)

Persons wishing to participate in any CHNWF vaccination clinic may call the Community Health Vaccine Call Center at 850-439-3358 to schedule an appointment or simply walk-in at their convenience during regular operating hours.

Florida COVID Deaths Still On The Rise
In the FDOH weekly report, a total of 2,448 COVID deaths were added as new cases continued to decline. The total for the state is now 48,772 since the pandemic began.

The state also reported 3,409,165 positive cases, an increase of 100,012 from the previous week, the positivity rate is 13.5%. The majority of the cases reported were children under the age of 12 for the third week in a row.

A total of 12,651 people were in hospitals across Florida due to COVID-19 complications — down almost 400 since Thursday.

Okaloosa DOH Shares Weekly COVID Data
Okaloosa County has seen a decrease in its positivity rate and weekly cases, but community risk level continues to be marked "high." The county's positivity rate is 28.2% and 1,699 cases were added during the week of Aug. 29 to Sept. 4. Hospitals are still over 90% full with 56% beds filled with COVID-19 patients. The unvaccinated population continues to be the most heavily impacted, according to the report.

The percent of breakthrough infections is 0.96% and deaths in fully-vaccinated individuals is 0.015%.

Vaccination Clinic at Argo Footall Game
In partnership with the Florida Department of Health, the University of West Florida is hosting Argo Nation Vaccination: Game Day on Saturday, September 11 at the first home UWF football game. The event will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. near the Field House (Building 54) on the Pensacola campus.

The Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen COVID-19 vaccines will be administered, free of charge.

Vaccines are available by appointment and will be offered on a first-come, first-serve basis. Walk-ins will be accepted while supplies last. Please register by Thursday, Sept. 9 at 5 p.m. using the Argo Nation Vaccination: Game Day appointment calendar. Participants must bring a valid form of picture identification and a completed COVID-19 Screening and Consent form. Please review the fact sheets for Pfizer and Johnson and Johnson.

The Pfizer vaccine requires a second dose 21 days following the first dose. UWF will host another vaccination day on Monday, October 4 from 9 a.m. to noon in front of the UWF Commons on the Pensacola Campus.

Tuesday, Sept. 7

Checking the latest data from FDOH for the week of Aug. 27 through Sept. 2, the state reported 433 deaths from COVID-19.

Also, statewide, there were over 129,000 new COVID-19 cases reported, a positivity rate of just over 15%. Northwest Florida reported nearly 6,900 new cases, including 2,516 in Escambia; 2,065 in Santa Rosa; 1,718 in Okaloosa, and 576 in Walton.

Positivity rates locally ranged from about 19% in Walton to almost 32% in Okaloosa. For the week ending Sept. 2, more than 462,000 people received the COVID-19 vaccine including about 6,000 in our region.
